2018 Minicon Announcement

The 2018 minicon will be held at HELIOsphere March 9-11 2018 at the Doubletree Inn in Tarrytown, NY. Check the link above for information about the hosting convention and watch this space for more information about the minicon as it becomes available.  The minicon is the annual event that allows the 1632 fans and authors to get together. (Of course, in the case of 1632, fans and authors overlap substantially.) Each year the minicon is held “inside” a science fiction convention in a different part of the country. Many cons have agreed to…

Eric Flint’s Baen Publishing Schedule for 2018

Eric just got the publishing schedule from Baen Books for 2018. Eric writes: February: 1637: THE VOLGA RULES. This is a novel in the 1632 series that I co-authored with Gorg Huff and Paula Goodlett. It’s the sequel to 1636: THE KREMLIN GAMES. June: GRANTVILLE GAZETTE VIII. This is the next in the series of anthologies of stories selected from the Grantville Gazette electronic magazine, which is devoted to the 1632 series. August: WORLDS II. This is the second anthology of my short fiction. It includes stories I wrote for the 1632 series, for…

Minicon 2017

This year, the Minicon was bigger and better than ever. This was because the Balticon concom asked Joy Ward, the co-editor of Eric Flint’s Ring of Fire Press and a Gazette author, to produce four days of panels and activities instead of our normal two. Joy put together a terrific program, which had to be modified very quickly when it became apparent that Eric Flint was not going to be able to attend, at least physically. Rick Boatright, the 1632 Universe’s head geek, set up with the Balticon media people a Skype link so that Eric could…

Minicon 2011

The 2011 1632 Minicon was held as part of Dragoncon, Sept. 2-5, 2011, in Atlanta, Georgia as part of the Alternate History track. Below you will find videos (linked from YouTube) for all the panels, except Snerkers.   NOTE: In 2011 YouTube videos were much more limited as to length and so hour long sessions were broken into parts. The links below go to the YouTube playlists.   It may seem silly after this long, but during the snerkers panel Eric and others talk about plans that reach out a long time. Also, some novels sit in…

Minicon 2008 at Albacon

So . . . How was the con? Written by Paula Goodlett In a word, great. Marvelous is another accurate descriptor. I enjoyed Albacon immensely. Great hotel, decent hotel food, lots of restaurants within walking distance that had truly great food, absolutely gorgeous weather in Albany for the weekend. The 1632 convention went very well, thanks to the organizers of Albacon and to the fans who came to participate. The room reserved for our use was just about the right size and stayed full. We might even have been able to use a larger one. We…
