I'm a professional historian, coming in toward retirement age, with three grown children and five grandchildren. My speciality is Early Modern Europe, with a focus on demographic history (history of population) and social history. As odd as it may seem, my employment until July 27 was with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, on which date I was transferred to the Office of the Assistant Secretary-Indian Affairs. My title is still "historian" though.
I never had any ambition to do creative writing, but with Ursus dragging me along, I've done two stories (one for the anthology and one for the Grantville Gazette) and am scheduled to co-write a novel (now titled 1634: The Bavarian Crisis) for the series with him.
I love footnotes, lists, and handwritten primary sources.
